Welcome!

Installation of Pr. Kristin-Luana and Pr. Olaf Baumann on February 24, 2024

As members of the body of Christ in this place and time, we are a welcoming congregation of people who gather to worship God, to share life together, to grow in love for each other and to be shaped by God’s Word, with the purpose of living out God’s love and being a sign of God’s loving and forgiving presence in our community and world. We hope you will join us!

In Home Worship – Sunday, April 14, 2024 – Third Sunday of Easter

10:00 am Worship

This Sunday, Pr. Olaf is the presiding minister, and Pr. Kristin-Luana is the preacher. Here is Sunday’s Sermon News:

Sunday, April 14, 2024: Luke 24:36-49, Tilapia Man

Jesus makes it very clear when he meets up with his friends after coming back to life: I am not a ghost. Look at me, touch me, here I am, flesh over bones, a real body. – Think of ghostbusters: What happens when you touch a ghost? Your hand goes right through it. The body is an apparition, but not real. But when Jesus’ friends touch his resurrected body, they can feel the flesh, the bones, the skin. And for ultimate proof, Jesus eats a piece of broiled fish! This is only one of many fish stories in the Gospels. Why does fish play such an important role throughout Jesus’ ministry? Listen to the sermon this Sunday and find out! See you at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front Street, Issaquah or on YouTube, 10AM.

– Pr. Kristin-Luana

Masks are welcome but not required. Click the link above to worship online with us, and click the button below to view the bulletin and follow along. If you try the link prior to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, you may see the message “video unavailable.”

Sunday is Scout Sunday

Scouts from Troop 676 are planning to greet, usher, and be the acolyte, as well as read the first, the second, and the gospel reading. They will also host the Coffee & Fellowship Hour.

11:15 a.m. Bali Presentation

Join Ken Konigsmark and his friend visiting from Bali, Kadek Widiantara, at 11:15 a.m. in Anderson Hall for a presentation on the fascinating religious beliefs, traditions, and ceremonies core to the “Island of the Gods” culture and society. Balinese Hinduism is a mix of Hinduism with indigenous animist customs that integrates many of the core beliefs of Hinduism and Buddhism with the arts and rituals of the Balinese people. Learn how Balinese life revolves around ceremonies and community while exploring how their beliefs align with or differ from our own Christian faith.

Together by Grace: Introducing the Lutherans Book Study

Please join us for a book study that comes from our national church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The study re/introduces us to the fundamental theology and practice of ELCA Lutheranism. Sessions will be on Thursdays, starting April 4th, either at noon (in-person) or at 7:00 p.m. (via Zoom).

For more information, visit our Christian Education page.

Community Meals Volunteer Opportunity

We have a robust Community Meals program at OSLC, serving meals on the second Tuesday and third Thursday of each month. While we have a good supply of cooks and bakers, we could use a few more willing to transport the food to the Community Center and serve the meals. Transport time begins at 4 p.m., and you will generally be finished by about 6:30 p.m. If you have a heart to serve the hungry in this way, please reach out to Marilyn Carlson (text 206-499-9601 or email [email protected]) to be added to the roster.  Many hands make light work!

Invitation to Musicians

The Worship Planning team wishes to develop a calendar of special music, taking advantage of our many talented members, not just the Choir and Bell Choir.   If you are interested in bringing a special music offering, please contact Marilyn Carlson (text 206-499-9601 or email [email protected]) to be added to the calendar.

Think about Global Missions!

Are you interested in getting a deeper insight into ELCA Global Missions? You are invited to join us on Tuesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. in Anderson Hall for a meeting to discern how OSLC might get more involved, explore opportunities, and allocate funds.

Cottage Meetings

Thank you to those who have already signed up to be a host or a guest for an upcoming Cottage Meeting. These one-time, small-group Cottage Meetings are an opportunity for fellowship and socializing with our new pastors. The hope is that every person who attends OSLC will have an opportunity to attend one. There are a few spots left for guests at the Mountain Park and Mirrormont Cottage Meetings. We’re also looking for one more host at the end of May. Please call or text LaRue at 425-442-4639 to sign up.

“Let Us Build a House” – Parsonage Capital Campaign

Thanks to all who have helped to bring this asset of our congregation back to life to serve as a home for our new pastors. We ask that you consider contributing to the parsonage campaign, or making a second gift if you have already done so.

For more information and to see the campaign’s progress, click the tab above.

Tune in to “The Revs. Baumann Sermons” YouTube Channel

Did you know that Pr. Olaf and Pr. Kristin-Luana have a YouTube channel called “The Revs. Baumann Sermons”? It features their OSLC sermons (and some from their previous church), as well as Pr. Olaf’s educational and entertaining videos called “Early Church History” (5-13 minutes long) and “Reformation History: Reformation Factoid” (less than 3 minutes long).
